Nestled in the town of  Logan West Virginia, you will be transferred back in time to the days of trains and a slower pace. The house known as the Palace on Charles was built in the 1930’s and was once  a produce meat packing facility that has since been transformed into a wonderful living experience. While visiting you can enjoy an evening with friends on the deck , play music and shoot a game of billiards in the bar that has coal cinder rafters and wake up in the morning  to work out in the home gym. Let’s not forget the mini Arcade located on the bottom floor and the courtyard with corn hole games, grill,  and soon to come jacuzzi.  Location is less than 0.3 miles from Trailhead Bear Wallow.

I celebrated a family reunion at the Palace on Charles. I commuted from NYC while my family drove in from neighboring WV counties and North Carolina. We had a great time celebrating a late Christmas celebration in early January. We played pool, games and enjoyed the hot tub. The rooms were very nice and beautifully designed. I felt like we entered our own little world upon entering the house. I do wish we got to all stay together longer. Grocery shopping was a breeze with local conveniences 7 minutes away and a very nice bakery in walking distance. I wish I got to try the steakhouse down the street. The area gives very small town, old school vibes.

We had to pleasure of staying at the Palace on Charles with a small group celebrating and was not disappointed. From the quick entry to the trail and the well appointed amenities we never left once we came back to the house. The house is a must and we also took photos in front of the Phoenix mural.
